I mean it makes sense, and this sort of thing happens all the time. It really is a no brainer if your paying for protection, but the fact that they admitted to it, and they admitted to doing it so recently was really surprising to me. Columbia likes to give the image that paramilitaries are a thing of the past.
The reason I had to comment on this though was because of something I found on the FARC website that BBC links to. FARC really has an
impressive website for an alleged terrorist organization. I laughed outloud at their
revolutionary itunes playlists, though. Commodified revolution. Reminds me of the
song "The Marxist Brothers" by NOFX.
