Immigration Orange Lessons

Since I've started cross-posting my more substantial posts over at Daily Kos and Blue Mass. Group I've been startled by the amount of opposition that I have recieved.  In these supposedly progressive online havens I was hoping to start building support.  Instead I find myself combatting misleading conservative talking points as if we all haven't heard them before.

As a result, I've decided to start putting together a series of posts, Immigration Orange Lessons, that debunk these talking points.  Hopefully, they'll prevent people from derailing the conversation everytime I try to write about something important.  I also hope that they will be of use to many other migrant advocates as they confront a toxic and hateful U.S. "immigration debate".

I'm glad you are doing this.  I also read the Blue Mass Group blog and was also taken aback by the anti-immigrant sentiment there.  Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the support.  We'll see if they work or not.  Hopefully they'll help reframe the debate a little.  At the very least I won't have to keep debating the same points over and over again.

You are surprised at the opposition?  Thes pieces are patehtic--Poorly written and deficiently analyzed.  Saying it doesn't make it so.  Just because you think it, doesn't make it so.   Feeling it doesn't make it so.  And lecturing people when you don't make any sense isn't a particularly helpful approach.
